Christmas Greetings - myspace blog post

Christmas greetings to all,

Long time no write, I know. Finals kept me extraordinarily busy, and I just didn't find the time to blog. However, now that I'm getting ready to head off to Israel, I decided it was time to create a real blog, one that everyone, not just my myspace friends, can access. I hope to chronicle my travels, and then just life in general, and I hope you all enjoy reading it. Check it out at: Schmiddy's Thoughts on Life

Thanks, and love to all!

Gut Check - myspace blog post

One of my biggest challenges in life is to trust myself. Trust my heart, trust my gut, trust my brain. I often think I'm doing what is right, staying true to myself, etc., and then a bit of doubt creeps in. I start worrying about what everyone else will think, and I feel myself waver. I don't want to do that anymore. I know me, I know myself, I know my core. I want to remain true to myself, and I want to care less about what world thinks. It's my life, and I have to feel comfortable in it. So, I'm going to continue on in my journey, doing the best I can. Not easy, I know, but at least I recognize the struggle.

Peace out y'all.

A Texting Whore - myspace blog post

Not long ago, I added unlimited texting to my cell phone plan. My old plan only allowed for 200 texts a month, and for a long time that was adequate. I just didn't text that much. Lately however, many of my friends text a LOT (yes, JM, I'm thinking about you for one here), so I thought I might as well give up and join them. This way, I don't have to worry about going over and paying for every single one, a good thing I think.

Anyway, when my bill arrived recently, I glanced at the texting section. To my amazement, I sent/received 2,006 texts last month. WTF? How did I go from texting under 200 times a month to ten times that number? I'm a texting whore! I feel like that kid on the AT&T commercial, the one where the mom comes in and says, "Beth Ann, 2500 texts this month?!?" and the kid says, "OMG, it's NBD, I txt my BFF" or something like that. I'm now Beth Ann. Insanity. I'm surprised I can even use my fingers to type this blog. I think I'll go for 3,000 this month, but I'm pretty sure I'm behind schedule. Time to pick up the pace!

PS: Happy Thanksgiving to all if I don't talk to you before then!

A little poetry - myspace blog post

Remember by Christina Rossetti

Remember me when I am gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land;

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more day by day

You tell me of our future that you planned:

Only remember me; you understand

It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while

And afterwards remember, do not grieve:

For if the darkness and corruption leave

A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,

Better by far you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad.

Lesbians are people too! - myspace blog post

Warning: the following may get too personal and/or too serious for some of you. Proceed at your own risk.

Because I'm in law school full time, I have law school health insurance, and let's just say it's not great. I have to pay for everything up front and then I'm reimbursed for a portion of the costs. It's obviously better than not having insurance, but it's not fabulous either.

Anyway, because the insurance isn't great, I try to cut health care costs when I can. A perfect example is the choice I made to have my annual physical at a clinic run by nurse practitioners rather than doctors. A nurse practitioner at the Minute Clinic (another example of my cost savings choices) recommended the clinic. She told me that the clinic was affordable and serves mainly women and children, so it sounded good. Until yesterday anyway, while I was actually having the physical. That's when reality set in. I will spare you most of the details, but there are some things that really bothered me and still bother me today.

Things actually started off well. Upon arrival, I completed the new patient forms that clinics always require. The forms asked questions about who I partnered with, whether I was gay, etc. I felt they were all around inclusive forms. Thus, everything seemed good at that point.

However, when the nurse came into the exam room and introduced herself, everything started going down hill. She seemed quite uncomfortable, and her bedside manner was just awkward. In our initial conversation, I mentioned that I was a lesbian and how I know that sometimes changes gynecological concerns. She then became a bit flustered and admitted she didn't know the guidelines for how I should be treated (what to test for, how often, etc.). She did say she felt embarrassed, and while I was annoyed, I also thought, "well, this isn't THAT unusual, so I guess it will be fine."

The exam then proceeded (still awkwardly I might add). At one point, she had to step outside so I could change, and I heard her talking to her colleagues about me. I heard, "she's a lesbian" muffle muffle muffle. I felt like an alien! Almost like she had to call in a special unit or something. Like Men in Black. We have an unusual lifeform here, gotta call in the experts. It didn't feel good, but I can honestly understand why she might have needed to confer with her colleagues. She just should have handled it better: maybe discuss the protocol later or at least be quiet about it. I don't know; it just didn't feel great.

Anyway, after she finished her consult, she came back and continued, at one point asking me if I had any other health concerns. I mentioned that I have irregular periods from time to time and I asked if that meant I would have trouble getting pregnant in the future. She proceeded to say, "yes it could, but does that matter?" WHAT? Why wouldn't my being infertile matter? Because I'm gay? Because I'm 31? Because I'm single? What? Feeling somewhat stunned, I said, yes, of course it matters! She seemed surprised and then sort of fumbled through a response, at one point suggesting that I should start trying to get pregnant now or soon. I had no idea what to say at that point, so I mumbled something about needing to finish law school first (she knew I was a law student). She then proceeded to tell me about increased infertility after the age of 35, of which I'm well aware, and finally I was saved by a need to go to the lab for blood work.

So, I think you get the idea about this visit. I'm leaving out many details, but overall, the visit sucked. It wouldn't have been so bad if she simply didn't know how to treat lesbians specifically. I understand that there hasn't been a lot of medical research on lesbian health care, and I know that many doctors aren't up on the latest information. I can also understand why she might have needed to consult with her colleagues, even if she mangled the process. What I cannot understand however, and what also makes me sad and angry, is her overall ignorance...women don't care about their fertility because they are gay?!? WTF! For the first time in a long time, I was reminded that I am a minority and that most people don't care or think about the GLBT community and its needs. I felt very "other" if that makes sense. She didn't know about lesbian health because she never had to think about it. Sad.

Needless to say, I need to find a new clinic. In reality though, I will probably confront the same ignorance in other clinics as well. That makes me angry and sad and also reminds me of how much equality/equity work remains to be done, in health care AND other areas. Sad sad sad. We need more gay doctors, just like we need more gay everything...perhaps it's time to recruit. I could always use another toaster oven! PS: To those of you who don't know, I want to have kids, and I think I would make a fabulous mom. Whoa, a lesbian who wants kids. Call the CIA.

Random randomness - myspace blog post

For those of you who don't know, I play fantasy football every year with a group of friends and family. It's quite fun to play, and I'm doing well this year (currently tied for first, which is certain not to last so I should celebrate now). However, I tend to get a bit...let's just be honest and say obsessed. For instance, this Sunday I had three players in the Indy-Pats game and I needed them to do well so I could win. So instead of being completely dedicated to my homework, I was halfway glued to the television during the game. Now, I know that doesn't seem like a big deal. So I watched a little football. Whatever. But it gets worse. I was supposed to meet K and P for dinner and a movie at 6:30, so I had to leave before the game was over. Not to be deterred from following the game, I went down to my car and tuned in some old school AM station so I could listen as I drove. To a game that didn't have any MN teams in it. On a station that crackled and made weird high pitched sounds at times. For a FANTASY football game. Nuts.

Anyway, despite the craziness of that, I also very much felt like my dad as I drove along, listening and picturing the field and the plays unfolding, something he did and still does today (and which I grew up doing because of him. There is still something special about listening to a baseball game rather than watching it). Considering there is no one I admire more than him, I guess that's not a bad thing. So there you have it, a crazy, obsessed fantasy football player who is a mirror image of her dad. Who knew? Well, perhaps I did, and probably many of you too.

In other random news (hence the title people), I went to see Lars and the Real Girl on Sunday night (note the reference to dinner and a movie with K and P - I hope you are paying attention because there might be a quiz later). That movie totally cracked me up! I'm not sure it was supposed to, but how can one not laugh at lines like "Bianca was elected to the school board" and "Bianca's wheelchair was stolen?" They might not seem funny now, but I'm not going to wreck the movie for those of you who haven't seen it just so I can explain how truly funny they really were. You just have to trust me and go see the movie. Despite the hilarity, the movie was also quite poignant and touching at times. All around good flick. Go see it people. If we can drive all the way to Eden Prairie, you can too.

Further, I received Guitar Hero 3 as a belated birthday gift from Samantha (shout out). Being the stellar law student that I am, I beat the game on the medium level in less than 24 hours. Actually, probably more like less than 4 hours. Rock on. Perhaps it's time to move up to hard, but my fingers don't seem to work that way (get your mind out of the gutter people). Alas, I must be content with my medium GH glory. It's a bit insane how much I like that game. If only I could really play an actual instrument...

Finally, most of you probably know by now, but my dad recently won CFO of the year for the Twin Cities! I went to the awards luncheon at which they announced the winners, and when they called his name I almost cried because I was just so proud. I couldn't think of a more deserving person for such an award, not only because he's good at his work but because he's just an all around good person. I am truly blessed to have both him and my mom as parents. Life was truly terrific that day, filled with family, friends, laughter and joy. Yay!

That's all my randomness for now. Peace out peeps.

Boredom has set in...Indulge me here - myspace blog post

So today I feel a little...blah I guess. This caught me a bit off guard, as I was flying high after playing volleyball last night (sidenote: I am truly having a blast playing again! We won 2 out of 3 last night, and it was fantastic. I know I keep raving about it, but it makes me so happy that I can't shut up.). However, there it was: blah. I sat with it for most of the day, trying to figure out what my problem was...I didn't come up with much until I arrived at night class and Kari said, maybe you are just bored. Voila! That makes complete sense. Law school is old news (and also truly boring in itself), my dating life is in need of CPR or some other form of resuscitation, I don't have a lot of time to really see people, I miss Sarah and many of my other friends (note about not having time), and I lack motivation to do work. Thus, boredom and the subsequent blah feeling. Volleyball is fantastic, but that can't be the sole source of happiness for an entire week. It just doesn't last that long. Maybe I should find some other sports teams to join...that actually is a good idea!

Seriously though, besides more sports, I need to change things up...what to do about this...I need a game plan. Perhaps the first step should be to make plans with peeps. So peeps, let's do it. My lack of blah depends on you.

Over and out.

Fun fun fun (and a tiny bit of ouch)! - myspace blog post

Many of you know that I demolished my knee in May of 2005, and some of you probably know that before that, I spent a great deal of time playing sports (volleyball and basketball teams, two softball teams, and sometimes flag football). Since the injury, I really haven't played much of anything, except for tons of physical therapy and one volleyball match. The injury was devastating for many reasons, but mainly because I've loved sports my entire life and I'm truly an athlete in my heart and soul. The second I got hurt, I knew what I had done and what rehab would entail, and also that I might never be the same.

However, as noted above, I absolutely love playing sports, so I decided to get back into the game with my old volleyball team this season. I did this even though I still cannot forget the sound my knee made as I tore everything in it (it was seriously sick - at least one of my friends in the outfield heard it too!). Thinking about that sound and the way my leg bent makes me nervous to play again, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.

So, last night was the first game of the season, and despite some weakness/soreness, I had an absolute blast. We lost all three games, but the other team was very good and we hung in there quite well, considering most of us hadn't played in a long time. I really didn't care that we lost; it just felt terrific to be playing again! Who cares if I had to ice my knee twice and my ankle once (my ankle is a different story, let's just say it's not structurally sound according to my doctor)? And that I am quite stiff this morning (walking around like an 80 year old)? Not me. It was fantastic to be back...now if only I could remember how to pass/serve receive! Anyone want to take some time out of your day to hit serves at me? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hope everyone is well!

Happy Coming Out Day - myspace blog post

To celebrate National Coming Out Day (which is today), I'm wearing a shirt that says: "Gay? Fine by me." Stonewall Alliance at HUSL gives away the shirts every year on this day, and I finally remembered to wear mine on the right day. However, I was the only person at school to remember. Oh well, hopefully when I return for my afternoon class everyone will have the new ones for this year. If not, I guess I can stick out a bit. It's been a long time since I've been an activist, so it won't kill me to wear the shirt and be maybe just a bit uncomfortable.

Speaking of activism, isn't it funny how things change? In college, when I got angry about the multiple injustices in the world, I typically acted on that anger, whether it be through joining a group, writing letters, volunteering, making calls, participating in rallies, or even marching (God, I hated marches-so not my thing. Wait, maybe that was because I was a lesbian marching through Saint Cloud...who wouldn't hate that?). I was changing the world and loving it!

Lately however, I'm not much of a joiner/activist. It's sort of sad, but I wonder if it's inevitable? Life has become much more busy, and I think we all spend each day thinking about the things we need to do just to make our own lives work. As a result, it becomes more difficult to think about the bigger picture and what needs to be done to make the world a better place. Sad, but true. I'm still aware, still involved, and I still care, but just not as much as I used to. I wonder if I should change that, or if I should just accept it as one of the inevitable changes life entails. Afterall, I am 31 now. Ha. Seriously though, this is definitely I need to ponder...

A beautiful life - myspace blog post

It's often easy to forget how lucky I am. I get bogged down by school and all that it entails, and it's just easy to get wrapped up in the minutiae of daily life. Traffic, lines, never sleeping enough, blah blah blah.

However, all week I've been reminded of just how blessed and lucky I am. I received birthday messages galore and had a fabulous party to celebrate my birthday and job offer with HLNJ. As I was surrounded by people wanting to celebrate with me last night, I realized that I have a great life. My life is full of fantastic family and friends. How could I ask for more, honestly?

So, to all of the fabulous people in my life, thank you! Thank you for the birthday wishes via phone messages, texts, myspace comments, emails, IMs, cards, and even Twitter. You all make my life extraordinary, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Words really aren't enough, but again, thank you! I wouldn't be where I am without all of you!

Right on, Carrie Bradshaw! - myspace blog post

"I'm looking for love, real love, ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't live without you love." - Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

That pretty much sums it up. I want that. Call me crazy, call me naive, call me whatever, but that is my truth. I'm willing to give that as well. It's who I am and what I want.

I'm not saying I NEED this. I am happy with the life that I have - I have a fabulous family and terrific friends. I have a warm bed, a roof over my head, and food (and diet coke) in my fridge. I have a big orange cat who adores me and who I adore.

I guess my point is this: My life is good with or without a romantic relationship. Thus, I'm not going to settle for less than the real deal, the whole package. It's all or nothing baby. I know who I am and what I want. I deserve that because I also give that. I am worth it. So, there you go. All of this might sound random to you, but it makes sense to me, and I guess that is all that matters.

Thanks, Carrie!

Quote of the Day - myspace blog post

I love this, and it rings true for me. You just never know when you or your kind words will be the bright spot in someone's day. Say the kind things you are thinking!

Ah Danette - myspace blog post

So I was just across the hall visiting my dear friends Kristin and Danette. As usual, it was excellent to see them. Danette even made banana bread, one of my favorite things. All was well until we started talking about my upcoming birthday. Suddenly, when Danette realized that I was going to be 31, she literally said, "oh shit!" She then proceeded to burst out laughing while Kristin (who isn't far behind me in the age category) and I said, "nice!" The jokes started flying then, and I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. Danette tried to explain her reaction by saying, oh I just remember when I thought 30 was so old. Now I guess I think 70 is old. Ha, good try! 30 will be upon you before you know it, youngin!'

Also in the midst of all this, Kristin mentioned that she recently received an AARP membership. What the heck? Soon you will just get one with your driver's license. Oh, you turned 16 today, don't you think it's time to consider AARP?

Anyway, after much howling, I decided to take my greying self back across the hallway so I could attempt to complete some homework. It's a miracle I made it without a walker!

D, you know I love you and I'm just messing with you. However, if you ever really do start worrying about all the old women in your life, just think about all the money you will be saving with Kristin's AARP membership! Sups hot.

Good times!

And I quote, "a gay" - myspace blog post

So, I'm in Administrative Law right now, and we are discussing a case that involved a gay man being kicked out of the CIA because he was a security threat. In describing the case, my professor actually said, the man was "a gay." Then, in continuing the conversation, he laid out a spectrum of things that could be troublesome for security purposes, and it went like this: heterosexual adultery, gay and lesbian activity, and then on to something else (he actually said we were past the first two things, whatever that meant). So, in other words, being gay is somehow now worse than committing adultery. This class has been enlightening! I wonder where homosexual adultery leaves one on the spectrum of shady activity? In really rough shape I guess. Perhaps we should ask Senator Craig...

I don't actually think my professor is a homophobe...I think he just needs to rethink his vocabulary and recognize that his statements might be offensive. Anyway, I actually almost laughed out loud in class. I sometimes forget that everyone is not living in the gay bubble. Good times!

How can it be mid-September already? - myspace blog post

Time is flying by again! My birthday is less than three weeks away-what happened to 30? It's crazy! I suppose 40 will be here before I know it. Sometimes I wonder what happened to 18 or 25...I suppose that is the way life works though. Gotta keep moving forward.

In good news, I passed the MPRE (multistate professional responsibility exam for my non law friends; it's part of the bar exam). Some of you might remember that I took this exam in August after very little sleep and virtually no studying. I guess you don't need either to pass! In fact, I did more than pass-I kicked the exam's ass! Yay! I'm really glad to be done with that. I guess a lot of people fail, so it's a relief.

In funny news, I recently purchased a web cam. Now I know some of you are thinking, ah Schmiddy, you have to give up the porn star dream, but in actuality, I bought the cam so I could talk to Sarah in Northampton. She has one too, so now we can actually just talk. It's sort of cool, but it also feels sort of geeky. Anyway, if any of you are ever just dying to have a web convo with me, let me know.

Well, my friend Jane just came to have lunch with me, so I must go. Later skaters!

PS: As I mentioned, my bday is coming up. I'm thinking about some bday dancing, so stay tuned for that.

I'm going to be employed in September of 2008! - myspace blog post

Hi all,

I got fabulous news last week and forgot to blog about it. HLNJ called and made an offer for a job starting in September of 2008! Yay! My hard work this summer really paid off, as now I will have a job when I graduate (well, assuming I graduate, which dear lord I better).

I'm a little worried about my current financial situation however. I managed to save up some money from the summer, but not a whole lot, and I'm currently unemployed. The real problem is that I don't want to be employed right now. I want to just focus on school and then the bar because I will be working plenty starting next fall...the question is whether I can really pull it off this year. Time for a real budget perhaps. We'll see. My extravagance can be a bit insane at times. I like nice things and they like me!

In other news, my sinus infection seems to be almost gone. I'm just really tired a lot now. That's not so bad I guess. Now I just have to catch up in school and all will be good.

Okay, I have to finish my homework for tonight's class. Later skaters.

Oh, if you want to celebrate my good news with me, let me know and we can go for dinner or drinks. Woot!

Labor Day Goings On - myspace blog post

So, long time no write again. Life has been keeping me pretty busy as usual. I'm currently in Omaha, NE visiting my college friend Jennifer aka Kropper and her partner Alice. It's been a really nice get away, exactly what I needed. School is in full swing again, and I just can't get motivated to study. It didn't help that I came down with a sinus infection, which meant all I wanted to do was sleep and drain my head. Fortunately, I'm feeling quite a bit better now. I only cough and feel bad for part of the day. Gotta love antibiotics. I know I do!

In other news, I saw 1776 at the Guthrie last weekend. I think it might be the best show I have ever seen at the Guthrie. I very much enjoyed it. I especially liked how it portrayed the founding fathers as actual people with real lives. It's easy to forget that great people were really just people, and not always great! It's also important to remember that American history often tells only one tiny bit of the story.

I also managed to go camping once this summer (thanks to M, J, K, and P!). Sorry if I already blogged about this, but I can't remember and I'm too lazy to go look. The trip was quite fun, even though brilliant me didn't think to bring a rain coat or even warm clothes. What I thought was going to be a warm day turned into a cold, rainy one. I was absolutely drenched at one point, and the tents had rivers of water running through them. It was all quite amusing, and I eventually dried out (for the most part at least). And, getting into the warm sleeping bag was awesome after that wet day. I also learned that you can eat hot dogs for EVERY meal and they are excellent. Good times were had by all.

I'm still waiting to hear from Halleland on a job offer. It might be a while yet, as they are one of the slower firms in the whole process. That's okay, as I've sort of adopted the que sera, sera approach.

It's been weird adjusting to life in Minnesota without Sarah. I'm not always sure what to do with myself, as she and I spent quite a bit of time together. However, I'm blessed to have many other amazing friends in my life, and I know everything will be okay. The timing is just a bit rough, with the start of class again. That typically kills my social life anyway. Again, I know it will all work out the way it's supposed to. Thanks to all my amazing friends; you're the best!

Well, I should probably go. My hosts have lunch ready for me; yum!

Adios mis amigos!

Sick again - myspace blog post

Sorry for the long delay in posts. Things have been crazy busy. I finished up my summer at the firm, and I have to say that overall, it was a great summer. I enjoyed the firm, the people, and the work I did. I hope they make an offer, but if they don't, I guess it wasn't meant to be. Que sera, sera.

In other news, I am of course sick again. Just a cold, but that doesn't help when I'm trying to start school. I think I was just trying to do too much as the summer ended...MPRE, friends, family, etc. Oh well, not much I can do about it. At least it's not strep!

Anyway, once this cold is done, I'm ready to hit the dance floor with my peeps, so shout out if you are ready too! Perhaps it's time for another adventure to the magical place of Lowertown. I could use some campiness in my life.

Enough for now. I'm tired and my brain is foggy from the cold. Love to all.

Deep thoughts... - myspace blog post

Don't worry peeps...I'm not melancholy or anything like that. I just heard this song on my ipod and I like the lyrics. They can really sum up life at times. Something to think about at least.

The Be Good Tanyas Lyrics

In Spite of All the Damage
Written by Frazey Ford

If I wanted to say to you
That I wanted to see your face again
That I want to hear you laughing
In spite of all the damage I've done

If I wanted to hear you talkin'
Or to hear your sense of things
Or to call you up on a Sunday morning
In spite of all the damage I've done

Well I broke up our home and left you nowhere to run
Yes I broke up our home and left you nowhere to run

I'm living out my days away
I think you understand that I could not stay
But I like to hear you laughing
In spite of all the damage I've done
In spite of all the damage I've done

Well I broke up our home and left you nowhere to run
Yes I broke up our home and left you nowhere to run

Time goes by...so slowly...or not. - myspace blog post

I guess I haven't written for a while again (patience folks, patience). Life is seriously flying by these days. What with work and various Harry Potter activities, I barely have time for sleep! I can't believe school starts August 22nd (or something close to that). That gets a major thumbs down, as I'm LOVING having a life again. I love seeing people, meeting people, doing fun things, and not having to study. Alas, if I actually want to BE an attorney, I must complete my third and final year.

As I know you are all dying to know, here's a recap of what I've been up to as of late:

1. The Harry and the Potters concert. When Karen and Paige invited me to go, I honestly had no idea what to expect. I knew the concert was being sponsored by the Mpls Public Library and that it was at a park, but other than that, no clue. Well, let's just say H and the Ps is good stuff. Totally silly, totally dopey, but I also couldn't stop smiling the entire time. Indeed, I even found myself singing/dancing along. How can you not dig a band that promotes reading and shouts out references to various scientific terms, such as ATP (and a bunch of other things I cannot spell)? I also really enjoyed seeing all the different types in the crowd enjoy the show (kids, teens, young professionals, people like my parents, etc.). H and the Ps: a nerdy boy's dream band. I say this with much love. Good times all around.

2. The Aquatennial Torchlight Parade. Okay, this was quite honestly the worst parade I've ever seen. There was no music, and the few floats were totally lame. The parade mostly consisted of various emergency services vehicles. Did you know that the Saint Paul Fire Department has a fan boat (they might actually have a bunch, because the one I saw was numbered 21)? Are there a lot of river fires that need attention? Did we develop a bayou? I know my firefighting knowledge is limited, but I didn't follow. Anyway, this parade also had tons of different pageant winners, but they were from places like Robbinsdale and other suburbs. I don't follow; isn't the aquatennial a Mpls festival? Finally, there were also random high school bands, none from the city. All quite odd, and the whole thing lacked in entertainment value. Boo.

3. Sweeney's. I met up with some school friends and had a few drinks out on the patio. No complaining at all here. Good times.

4. Working like crazy (which involves lunches and more drinks, diet coke for me). I've been putting in quite a few hours at the office, but I'm still enjoying the job. In fabulous news, my bridesmaid's dress still fits, even after all the many crazy lunches. I just have to hold out until Friday now, but I'm not out of the woods yet, as I have a lunch EVERY day this week. Insanity. Fun, but insane too.

5. The Art Car Parade. I went to the art car parade on Saturday, which I think is also part of the Aquatennial festival. Who knew I was so dedicated to the Aquatennial? Not me, but I went with it anyway. Now this was a pretty interesting parade. Fortunately for Karen and Paige, I found us some lovely seats on someone's yard (which was quite uncomfortable actually. The grass was dead, and for a brief while, I missed the lush suburban lawns of my youth). The parade was neat, but because of traffic issues it went rather slowly. Obviously, we had no patience and took off for beverages, where we met the lovely ABB and Tobias. Food and drinks for all, and the memories of the scratchy yard were soon lost.

6. HP 7. I read the entire book on Saturday (well, into Sunday morning actually). I very much enjoyed it, and that is all I will say because I don't want to give anything away to my friends who haven't finished.

7. Twins game. I went to the Twins game with my dad, Sarah, and Carolyn on Sunday. Unfortunately my team did not get the job done. Clutch hitting is lacking, and it's painful to watch at times. Also, the two guys behind us clearly should have just stayed at the office, as they only spoke about business (quite loudly) for the entire game. I feel like I should have had paper and pen ready to go so I could record stock tips. They annoyed me to no end, and I think they even annoyed my dad. I bet they don't even know who won the game. Boo to that.

8. Drinks at Lake Valusek. I met up with two school friends tonight for dinner and drinks at Lake Valusek (aka Karla's backyard with a fountain). Karla made fabulous food and mojitos, and I got to spend time with two fabulous, smart, funny, attractive women. What more can you ask for?

9. Preparing for K and D's wedding. I haven't done tons, but I've been trying to help out. I'm very excited for the big day on Friday, and again, as I said above, I'm relieved my dress fits. I better go with salads all week.

10. Trying to spend time with Sarah (and talk to her) before she leaves. I'm very much in denial about the move...thank God for cell phones (with the same service plan), IM, email, and airplanes. It's gonna be rough.

Okay, so that was obviously more than a recap. I just feel like I've been doing tons of stuff...I wish I had blogged about H and the Ps much sooner, as that experience truly was unique. Alas, I delayed and now words just don't capture the magical evening in Pershing Park.

Well, enough for tonight. Love to all my peeps!
